"La Danza y el Traje en México"
DUF 2008 is proud to offer reprints of "La Danza y el Traje en México" Volumes I, II and III, by Dr. Maria Guadalupe Castro Páramo. Each volume, created especially for the Danzantes Unidos Festival by Dr. Castro, is written in English and covers traditional dances and costumes of different regions of Mexico . Included in this goldmine of information are original photos, archival illustrations, maps and detailed notes for the construction of costume pieces.
Born in Morelia , Michoacan, Dr. Castro received her B.A. (cum laude) in Cultural Anthropology from Cal-State Bakersfield in 1980, and her Ph.D. from UCLA in 1992. Throughout the years she has taught Dance Ethnology, Anthropology, Chicano History and Chicano Literature at UCLA, UC Irvine, Bakersfield College and CSUB. For the past four years, Dr. Castro has been teaching at Fresno City College . She has been an instructor for the Danzantes Unidos Festival since 1990 and currently serves as an advisor to DUC Board of Directors.
"La Danza y el Traje en México" Volume I features the states of Chihuahua , Oaxaca , Sinaloa, Tamaulipas , Veracruz and Yucatán.
"La Danza y el Traje en México" Volume II includes chapters on Danza Azteca , Chiapas , Michoacán, Jalisco , Puebla , and Tabasco .
"La Danza y el Traje en México" Volume III features the states of Baja California Sur, Baja California Norte, Zacatecas, Quintana Roo with bonus sections on Rio Verde, SLP and El Rebozo.
There will be a limited number of copies available onsite, however, you can guarantee your copy by pre-ordering along with your group registration. Sorry, we are not taking orders for mailing.
